What's going on with Melrose-A meeting with the Pelorus Group (The Owners)

On January 5, Len Pojednic, POA president, Bob Stright, POA board member, Andy Mason, ARB chairman, and Brian McCarthy, Melrose homeowner and owner of Bloody Point, met with J. T. Bramlett, Pelorus Group president, Brent Hall, Susan Jones and Alex Norman of Pelorus and several financial advisors. Also present was a representative of Charlestowne Hospitality Group. Pelorus is in the process of recapitalizing its investment in Melrose. This will take a couple of months and very little renovation will be done in the interim. However, the excellent condition of the golf course will continue to be maintained. Pelorus has purchased the Beach Club and pool areas for future development but they will refurbish the restaurant and pools for use this summer. The restoration and opening of Jack's is another priority. The Island House needs very little work. They will hire a general manager to oversee all renovations and operations. It will be at least nine to twelve months before the Inn will open. They plan a more expansive lobby area and fully refurbished guest rooms with individual ocean side balconies. Regarding the severely damaged sea wall and resulting erosion adjacent to the 16th, 17th and 18th fairways, Pelorus recognizes the gravity of the problem and that they may have to undertake emergency repairs. The erosion of Driftwood Lane and the need for immediate action, with participation by Pelorus, also was discussed. Plans for boat transportation are not finalized as several options are being considered. They were told that, while upgraded services would be nice, Melrose property owners primarily are interested in frequency and reliability. Len Pojednic reports that " Pelorus' presentation and their responses to our queries were frank and informative. JT Bramlett's comments indicated that Pelorus is strongly committed to the successful rebirth of Melrose as a community where property owners, Club members and resort guests can together enjoy a full range of first rate amenities in a very unique environment.". Len also reports that December /January on Daufuskie has been beautiful ( blue skies with only occasional cold), and that the Melrose golf course is in superb condition . A wonderful new restaurant ( the Eagle's Nest ) recently opened in Bloody Point, and it's a very welcome and well received addition to DI dining options. There also have been quite a few Melrose home and lot sales recently, and that's a welcome change. We invite all MPOA homeowners and lot owners to visit soon. South Carolina Top Blogs
