Dear Front Porch Readers, Please note the following: Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2014 On Tuesday, November 4th, there will be several races on the ballot for local, state and federal offices. There are one Local Question and two Statewide Constitutional Amendments also on the ballot. Voting will take place between 7 AM and 7 PM at the Janie Hamilton School. You will be asked to show a photo ID and state your current address. That ID could be a SC Driver’s License, a SC DMV ID card, a SC Voter Registration card with photo, a U.S. Passport, or a Federal Military ID with a photo. Your Voter Registration card that does not have a photo is not sufficient. Any ID that you present must be current, that is, not expired. Intriguing, romantic, mysterious, unspoiled these are words often used to describe Daufuskie, a remote two and one half by five mile island situated on the east Atlantic coast between Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Tybee Island, Georgia. Savannah, Georgia, another historic city, is located south of the island, approximately an hour away by water.     Visitors to Daufuskie won't find a traffic light, a bank, a drive-through restaurant, or a drugstore. Instead they encounter a magnificent display of n

"The Front Porch"

Please sign up for the Daufuskie Paper. "The Front Porch" The link is on my site. Please send a small donation as the paper is completely funded by small donations and well worth your time to do this. The paper will eventually add a paypal button and some ad sense but right now if you would kindly mail your check all donations are appreciated. While there are a few Daufuskie Island bloggers and the islandpacket paper on Hilton Head, "The Front Porch" is the only real coverage for local happenings on Daufuskie Island. It is graciously published by an island local resident who is very generous with her time and effort that it takes to write, email, fund raise and put out a local newspaper. http://www.daufuskiefrontporch.com/index.php/current-issue-and-archives This NewPaper will give you so much more current information about the island. More than I could ever begin to blog about.
