Dear Front Porch Readers, Please note the following: The Daufuskie Island Council All Daufuskie Island residents and property owners are encouraged to attend a special town hall meeting at 5:30 on Tuesday, July 24th. The meeting will be held at the Island House at Melrose on the Beach. The topic will be the Daufuskie Island Ferry System and proposed ferry tax district initiative. The Eagle's Nest Restaurant is now open on Tuesdays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is also now accepting reservations for parties of any size. Furthermore, we have launched our General Store, which is located to the left of the main red doors of the Clubhouse. John Capin, 51, was in chest-deep water when the rescue party led by N.J. state trooper and part-time island resident John Lebak reached him at about 9 p.m. near Haig Point.
