The rocker — whose wife, Elaine, recently filed for divorce and is now said to be dating actress Meg Ryan — saw in 2011 at his Daufuskie Island, S.C., home, People magazine reports. “John and Elaine spent a great deal of time in the house over the summer and they looked to be very happy,” said one nosy neighbor. “They both love the area, especially Savannah. Iron man: Daufuskie artist forges ahead with ornament project Monday, 29 November 2010 10:10 Take a talented Daufuskie Island artist and mix him with the students at Daufuskie Island Elementary School and the result is a collection of whimsical, colorful hand-crafted ornaments. For the past four years, Chase Allen of Iron Fish Art has provided 500 hand-cut fish ornaments for students to decorate. The ornaments are donated to the staff of Volunteers in Medicine, who glitter, wire and package the colorful artwork for sale at $10 each. The artist knows firsthand the value of the free medical care provided by Volunteers in Medicine. “Before I got health insurance, I used VIM,” Allen said. “I don’t know what I would have done without them.” Allen has been creating iron fish, mermaids and crab sculptures on Daufuskie since 2001, and his work has been featured in national publications including Coastal Living and Southern Living. “I love getting the kids involved on this project,” sai

Give Thanks Posted on November 27, 2010 by millieledbetter “Give thanks to the Lord, Our God and King, His love endures forever.” It has been so wonderful to be at home for this Thanksgiving break. It’s nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city every now and then. I don’t realize how fast paced Manhattan is until I come home to an island in South Carolina that houses about 200 people. I love coming here because it gives me a breath of fresh air and allows me to relax with the Lord’s beauty around me. This break has been a wonderful time with my family and friends. I started the break off in Atlanta for a couple of days. (My parents still have a little place there so we can go to the doctor’s office and see friends and family.) While in Atlanta, I got to see Jordan and some friends that I haven’t seen in a while! It’s always a nice treat to be able to stop in Atlanta every now and then. I miss that city. The county pays private ferry providers to take some riders, such as property owners and residents, between Hilton Head Island and Daufuskie. The county recoups some of its expenses through fees, which range from $2 per trip for students or seniors to $7 for people who own property on Daufuskie but don't live there. The county's last contract called for it to pay $13.50 per passenger to J&W Corp. and $13 per passenger to Palmetto Ferry Co., although Palmetto has since ceased service.
